Our Story

It started at the bar.

In 2011, Christopher Jones was working full-time in banking and was tired of sports content that sounded nothing like the way real fans actually talked about sports. So he decided to do something about it.

HasBeenSports was built on a simple idea: sports talk should sound like the conversations happening at your favorite bar. Our original slogan said it all: Bar Talk Connoisseurs.

The name was pretty honest, too. A former Division I football player at MTSU, Christopher was a certified has-been. The kind of guy at the end of the bar who still thinks he could do it better, talks a little too much trash, but occasionally entertaining.

What started as two local podcasts, Monday Night Forehand for Predators / hockey fans and Wednesday Night Happy Hour for just about everything else, quickly became something bigger.

We built a community. We fielded softball, kickball, and dodgeball teams. Hosted Beer Olympics. Organized bowling fundraisers for organizations like Autism Speaks. Turns out, when you give people something worth being part of, they show up.

Then things got serious. Sort of.

In 2013, Christopher founded Nashville FC, the club that would eventually become Nashville SC. Along the way, he needed someone who understood how to build an audience and give a brand some personality.

Enter Brian Taylor.

Brian had already helped build MTSU's student fan section, The Blue Zoo, into something that was bigger than just showing up for games. He brought that same energy to Nashville FC's social media, and before long, he was part of HasBeen, too.

What started as a couple of guys having fun with sports and entertainment turned into careers doing exactly that.

Over the years, we've worked across professional sports, entertainment, media, and marketing, helping organizations build brands, grow audiences, create experiences, and turn good ideas into actual business results.

We've been part of launching professional sports organizations, developing marketing campaigns, creating live entertainment experiences, growing communities, and figuring out how to make people genuinely care about something.

Meanwhile, HasBeen never stopped being HasBeen.

We've continued building our own little corner of the internet through podcasts, social content, live events, and gaming communities spanning Warzone, EA FC, College Football, NASCAR, and whatever else gives us an excuse to compete and talk trash.

Now it's your turn.

Somewhere along the way, we realized that a lot of what we've learned building our own brands and working behind the scenes for others could be valuable to people trying to build something of their own.

So that's what we're doing.

Whether you're launching a brand, trying to grow an audience, planning an event, looking for a fresh marketing perspective, or just need someone who's been there to help figure out what's next, we'd love to be part of it.

We're not here to pretend we have all the answers. But we've got experience, ideas, connections, and a pretty good track record of making things happen.

And if we can help you turn your next big idea into something real, even better.

Still talking trash. Now with a track record to back it up.
